Obedience to the Word #devotions

We serve a jealous God (see http://bible.org/seriespage/jealous-god), and to put any other gods before Him is to risk his awesome rage. But to the obedient servant who seeks His will in all things He brings blessing and we live within His tender care and mercies. Living for the one true God, the great I Am...hiding in the shadow of His wings...no other way for me...

Cats Behaving Badly: Aggression

Sleepee's issues don't really fall into any of these categories...but he's settling down a little now that he has his own space (my daughter's room, she moved out a few weeks ago). He comes out and seeks attention when he wants it, and retreats when he feels the need. My husband also made him a special soft object that is all his own, and the cat has stopped stealing, chewing, and defending our grandson's stuffed animals as well. We're working with him, trying to meet his needs and understand him. Adopting a middle-aged shelter cat (declawed yet - UGH! no wonder he uses his teeth so much!) is a little tougher but the reward is turning out to be great as we gradually earn his trust :).

#Lewybody Disease Often Mistaken 4 Alzs.

My mother has Lewy Body Dementia, and it was a long road - and a nearly deadly one - to her diagnosis. Doctors don't know, and in my mom's case it was a doctor's "all dementias are alike" belief, in spite of my arguments, that nearly killed her. I am thankful that she recovered to a degree, as many do not. But it is essential that LBD is correctly diagnosed and treated, as this article points out...because drugs commonly used in other dementias can severely harm or even be fatal to an LBD sufferer...

Need to Solve a #Cat Behavior Issue...Anyone?

Sleepee, a 5YO neutered male cat we recently acquired from our local shelter, likes fuzzy things. That's probably not strange in itself, but he will steal a stuffed animal, for example, carry it around, stuff it under his belly so we can't get to it, even attack someone who tries to take it. He's grabbed my almost-2YO grandson's fleece shirt - while he was wearing it! - and my new slippers with my feet in them in addition to stuffed toys...& just REALLY attacked our minpin when he got too close to a teddy bear Sleepee was "guarding". He sucks on them and/or chews on them, something scary to a small child when the cat has his sleeve and refuses to let go, and gets mean when we try to separate him from the baby who gets really upset. (No fleece-wearing rule in our house now!)

He is a sweet and funny cat...unless there is something soft and fuzzy around him, then he gets really protective and even mean :(. Other than that he is wonderful in every way. I can always take him back but that is a LAST resort, and not something I would usually consider until I've tried everything else, or unless he actually hurts my grandson; we really have grown to love this cat and his funny endearing ways, so I need some solutions to this. I've trained many dogs and parrots quite successfully over the years (people tell me I have a "way" with them) but I don't feel such a connection to cats, and training doesn't come naturally as it does with the other animals.

If anybody might be able to guide me in this I would really appreciate your advice :).
