Gosh Durn It!

So, I've been working in my shop for hours...all afternoon and evening in fact...when I go up to the house to make a pot of coffee, feed the birds their bedtime snack, get a snack for myself, toss the next load in the dryer and another in the washer...stuff like that. I start with the coffee, then the laundry, then figure I can do a couple more quick things as long as I'm at the back (the shop is through a hallway with a door on each end, off the utility room) of the house anyway...so I get busy with things and an hour passes and I figure I need to get back up to the house and finish what I was going to do earlier...

As soon as I open the door into the house I knew something was wrong. I smelled burnt coffee and a burning smell right away. (The shop is on a totally seperate air supply from the house so I didn't smell it back here.) Sure enough, the coffee pot burnt out :(. Guess we'll be heading to Walmart in the middle of the night tonight...anyway, I dealt with that, then fed the birds and got them tucked in for the night. As I closed the curtain the covers the windows that span the wall behind their cages, the curtain rod came crashing down...hardware came right out of the wall and everything, and I don't know how to fix it. Now there will be shadows and reflections on the windows behind the birds, and they'll be freaking out all night. I know that Pete won't be wanting to hang curtain rods after 8 hours of hard work on his feet, after midnight...I still have a bunch of stuff to do here in the shop tonight though, so I can't watch the birds, hopefully there will be no frights before I get up there, or if there are, that they don't hurt themselves.

Gosh Durn it!

  1. Yay, Pete fixed it before you got up. What a wonderful hubby. Now, do you have something that rings in the shop if there is a fire in the kitchen?

  2. Yup, he's my hero and fixes everything for me :). But I don't have anything that would let me know back in the shop if something is going on up in the house...I didn't even know that there was anything like you describe! Will have to look into that.
